Privacy Policy
The short version. SetuShip runs inside your own Google account, not on our servers. Its Gmail access is read-only and is used for one purpose: finding your Etsy sale-confirmation emails. Your orders are written to a private Google Sheet in your own Google Drive. We do not receive, store, or have any way to see your emails, your orders, or your customers' details. The only personal data we hold is your Google account email address and licence status, so we know your subscription is active.
1. Who we are
SetuShip ("we", "us") provides a shipping-automation web app for Etsy sellers in India. This policy explains what data the app touches, why, where it is kept, and what your choices are.
Contact us at support@setuship.in or on WhatsApp at +91 70148 82361.
2. How SetuShip is built (and why it matters)
SetuShip is a Google Apps Script web app deployed to run as the user accessing it. In plain terms: when you click a button, the code executes under your Google account, with your permissions, on Google's servers — not ours.
We operate no application server, no database, and no data warehouse for seller data. There is no place on our side where your emails, orders, or customer addresses are copied to. This is an architectural fact, not just a policy commitment.
3. Google account permissions we request
When you first open SetuShip, Google asks you to approve the permissions below. Google's consent screen describes the broadest thing each permission could allow. Here is what SetuShip actually does with each one.
| Permission | What SetuShip uses it for |
|---|---|
Gmail — read onlygmail.readonly |
Searches your mailbox for Etsy sale-confirmation emails only, using this exact query: from:transaction@etsy.com subject:"You made a sale on Etsy". It reads those emails to extract the order details. This permission is read-only — the app cannot send, reply to, forward, label, archive, or delete any email, and it does not read any other message in your mailbox. |
Google Sheetsspreadsheets |
Creates one spreadsheet in your own Google Drive on first run and writes your orders into it. That file is yours; it stays in your Drive. No other spreadsheet is opened. |
Connect to an external servicescript.external_request |
Lets the app call your shipping partner's API to price, book, pay for, and track your shipments, and to check your SetuShip licence. |
Your email addressuserinfo.email |
Reads your Google account's primary email address so we can match your licence key to your account and confirm your subscription is active. |
SetuShip requests no other Google permissions. It does not ask for access to your contacts, calendar, photos, or the rest of your Google Drive.
4. Google API Services — Limited Use
SetuShip's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, data obtained through Google APIs (including Gmail data) is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described in this policy. It is never sold, never transferred to third parties except as needed to provide the service you asked for (booking your shipment with your shipping partner), never used for advertising, and never read by a human — except where you explicitly ask us to help with a support issue, or where we are required to do so by law.
5. What data is processed, and where it lives
Data that stays in your Google account
All of the following is created and stored inside your own Google account. We have no access to it:
- Order details read from your Etsy emails — order number, order date, item names, options and quantities, and the order value.
- Your customers' shipping details — recipient name, email address, postal address, city, state, postal code and country, as Etsy sent them to you.
- Your shipping working data — parcel weight, declared item values, HSN/customs mapping, chosen service, freight charged, shipment ID, tracking number and delivery status.
- Your settings and shipping-partner API credentials, stored in Google's per-user properties store for your account.
Shipping labels are generated on demand and downloaded straight to your device as PDFs. We do not keep a copy.
Data we hold
Our records contain only what is needed to run your subscription:
- your Google account email address;
- your SetuShip licence key, subscription status and expiry date;
- any messages you send us for support, on WhatsApp or by email.
That is the complete list. We do not hold your orders, your customers' details, your emails, or your shipping-partner credentials.
6. Who your data is shared with
SetuShip sends data to exactly two places, both on your instruction:
- Your shipping partner. To book a shipment, the app sends that shipment's details to your shipping partner's API using your own account credentials: recipient name and address, contact details, item description, HSN code, declared value, quantity and parcel weight. This is the same information you would type into their portal by hand. Their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy and your agreement with them.
- Google. The app runs on Google's infrastructure and your data is stored in your own Google account, under Google's terms.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. There are no third-party trackers or advertising cookies on this website.
7. Your customers' personal data
The buyer names and addresses SetuShip handles belong to your customers, and you remain responsible for them. SetuShip acts on your behalf as a processing tool: it moves that information from the email Etsy sent you to the shipping partner you chose, and keeps a copy in your own Google Sheet so you have a record. We neither control nor retain that data.
8. Security
- Your data never leaves your Google account for our systems, so there is no shared database of seller data that could be breached.
- Sellers are fully isolated from each other. Every client's orders sit in their own Drive; one seller's account cannot reach another's.
- Your shipping-partner credentials are stored in Google's per-user properties store, scoped to your account. They are sent only to your shipping partner's API, over HTTPS.
- All connections the app makes are encrypted (HTTPS).
No system is perfectly secure, but the design above means the amount of your data exposed to us — and therefore at risk from us — is nil.
9. How long data is kept
Your orders sheet stays in your Google Drive until you delete it; you control it entirely. Our licence records are kept for as long as your subscription is active and for up to 12 months afterwards, for accounting and reactivation, after which they are deleted on request or in routine clean-up.
10. Your choices and rights
- Withdraw access at any time. Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions, select SetuShip, and remove access. The app can then read nothing at all. Anything already in your Drive stays yours.
- Delete your data. Delete the SetuShip orders spreadsheet from your own Google Drive and it is gone. Email us to have your licence record erased.
- Ask what we hold. Write to us and we will tell you, and correct or delete it on request.
- Use a separate Google account. If you would rather your main inbox was never involved, create a Google account used only for SetuShip and auto-forward your Etsy sale emails to it. We are happy to help you set this up.
11. Children
SetuShip is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change what data the app touches, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes — in particular any new Google permission — will be told to you directly before they take effect.
13. Contact
